Malik Tillman is the Young Player of the Year as voted by Scotland’s footballers.

The Bayern Munich starlet is currently back in Germany recovering from a sore leg picked up trying to injure Greg Taylor during his side’s defeat from Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Admittedly it hasn’t been a vintage year for young talent in the Scottish game but Liel Abada and Matt O’Riley have both made positive contributions to a successful team and showed up in the Champions League.

Tillman has started 22 SPFL matches and came on as a substitute six times. He was posted missing in three SPFL matches against the Champions with similar performances at Hampden as his side lost twice to the hoops.

In Europe Tillman did help Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side into the group stage of the Champions League where they went straight into the history books as the worst team ever.

Tillman played in five of those six matches, sitting out the 7-1 defeat from Liverpool on the substitute bench.

In 2019 Ryan Kent picked up the Young Player of the Year award, beating off Lewis Ferguson, David Turnbull and Jake Hastie.

A fortnight ago the orcs were saying don’t bother buying him

Every pundit I heard was saying the same thing

Now that he’s young player of the year then £5m is a snip , a no brainer . Right ?
