When Aberdeen players and fans celebrated finishing third in the SPFL Ibrox fans were quick to dismiss the achievement of Barry Robson and his born-again squad.
It has been quite a turnaround with the 1-0 defeat at Darvel coming between a 5-0 defeat away to Hearts which was bettered a week later by a 6-0 loss away to Hibs.
Robson walked into that, relegation was being discussed but turned the Dons around with a Celtic win against Inverness Caley Thistle lifting Aberdeen in a Europa League Play-Off, lose that and they will drop into the group stage of the UEFA Conference.
Aberdeen celebrated, with good reason. It’s not as if they are the first team to celebrate finishing third in the SPFL. As recently as May 2017 Firhill housed some incredible scenes.

On the back of a 5-1 home defeat from Celtic in April, Pedro Caixinha took his squad to Firhill for another post-split Glasgow Derby.
Kris Doohan put the Jags in front after 14 minutes but with 10 minutes left to go Barrie McKay equalised before a last minute winner from Joey Garner kicked off some incredible scenes of celebrations in the dug-out while fans raced onto the pitch to celebrate with their heroes.
