‘Sinister trend’ ‘Dogs marking territory’ ‘less civilised’ David Tanner lashes out at Celtic celebrations

David Tanner is the latest C-lister to criticise the celebrations of Celtic fans after their side were presented with the SPFL Premiership trophy.

The attitude of the former Sky Sports anchorman to Celtic is well documented as he reports on success and trophies through gritted teeth.

Thousands of fans headed to the Trongate to sing, chant, drink and enjoy the atmosphere following a fantastic title win in which Celtic set the pace from day one.

There were a couple of regrettable isolated incidents but no park benches were smashed, no statues damaged with the Riot Police given a night off.

Typical of his type Tanner decided to baggage it all up with the events at George Square in 2021 when Ibrox fans twice rioted while the emergency services and Police Force was at full stretch due to the pandemic. Glasgow was in Tier 4 Lockdown restrictions.

After Celtic’s victory in the Scottish Cup semi-final last month a near tearful Tanner was pictured hanging around his colleagues interviewing Callum McGregor.

Tanner now covers Scottish football for TalkSPORT.
