Stuart McLaren has tweeted about the incredible experience of Wednesday’s SFA Youth Cup Final.
Given access to a live television audience the u-18 version of Angeball provided plenty of encouragement to supporters as they attacked with pace and purpose down the flanks to create six goals.
Five goals were conceded at the other end but if two or three of last night’s squad are involved in the first team in a few years time it will be mission accomplished.
About last night……
Incredible experience for players, staff & our younger academy players in the stands who gave as much effort in their support as the team on the pitch!
Privileged to be involved ?? https://t.co/pK6k3gHzZ8— Stuart McLaren (@mclarenstu) May 4, 2023
Ange Postecoglou looked impressed by what he was watching from the stand at Hampden, Rocco Vata and Ben Summers are currently involved with the first team squad but not since Kieran Tierney in season 2015/16 has someone came out the Academy to become a first team regular.
The next step is the crucial one as last night’s squad leave the Academy behind. Perhaps half a season in the Lowland League followed by a well placed loan next January can return a couple of players that are first team ready for season 24/25.
