South Melbourne have released footage from Ange Postecoglou’s 1999 National Soccer League success.

At the age of 34 the young Postecoglou was setting off on a management career that was to take him from the A-League to the J-League and onto an incredible turnaround at Celtic.

One SPFL Premiership defeat since September 2021 is an incredible run of results, all driven by a manager with total belief in a style of play that remains remarkably similar to South Melbourne 1999-style.

Fast breaks down the flanks resulting in balls being fired across the goalmouth are as popular as ever with Kyogo Furuhashi and Oh Hyeon-gyu converting against Hearts to secure another gong for Postecoglou.

Without any sign of arrogance Postecoglou has complete belief in the way that he wants his side to play, from South Melbourne through Yokohama F Marinos and into Celtic he has combined success with entertainment.
