Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that a verbal agreement has been struck between Spurs and Ange Postecoglou over replacing Antonio Conte.

Less than 48 hours on from Celtic lifting the Scottish Cup at Hampden events seem to be fast moving with three newspapers reporting that the Australian discussed his wish to manage Spurs with the Celtic hierarchy on Saturday night.

Romano has an enviable but not 100% record on tracking the big moves across European football with his Monday morning tweet likely to have a high degree of accuracy.

It now looks only a matter of time before Postecoglou is paraded as the new manager of Spurs turning the spotlight onto Celtic to come up with a successor.

CEO Michael Nicholson has never given any public interview, when Postecoglou came to Celtic in June 2021 he had a background role as Peter Lawwell and Dom McKay discussed the vacancy, Nicholson was involved in setting up the contract and working on the paperwork involved in transfers.

Celtic’s next competitive match is the opening match of the 23/24 Premiership campaign on August 5/6, the first friendly will ironically be away to Yokohama F Marinos on July 19.
