Anthony Joseph has put ‘expected this week’ as the timeline on Celtic announcing the return of Brendan Rodgers as manager.

Ever since Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay were reported to have visited Santa Ponsa to speak with the Irishman there has been a momentum towards returning to the club he left in 2019.

Solid facts are thin on the ground but the Sky Sports reporter has a reasonable record for reading what is going on inside Celtic Park.

At 7.38pm on Sunday Joseph reported:

Brendan Rodgers has agreed terms on a long-term deal to return to Celtic as manager. It is understood the paperwork is being finalised and an announcement is expected this week.

The 50-year-old won seven trophies during his first spell in Glasgow, including back-to-back domestic trebles, but left for Leicester City midway through the 2018/19 season – much to the frustration of many Celtic fans.

Rodgers is understood to have agreed a deal in excess of his previous Celtic contract, which will make him the highest-paid manager in the club’s history again.

What exactly is holding up an announcement is difficult to pinpoint, a manager can be appointed who then spends time finalising his backroom staff.

The future of John Kennedy appears to be significant but being wanted at Celtic and Spurs wouldn’t seem to be a deal breaker.

Seven years on from his first appointment at Celtic Rodgers looks set to return to the club far more experienced and better informed about the factors involved in Scottish football.

If rumours are true (just rumours as yet)…Isn’t it ironic that BR and Celtic are getting a deal that AP would envy ?

    • Thomas M Daley says:

AP were offered a fixed contract with obvious attachments.
He turned the Celtic board down.
      His ambition stopped him.

If you think Rodgers is getting any where near the remuneration that Ange has got, then it is just wishful thinking!
