With Celtic fans celebrating their 115th trophy win yesterday the mood on Follow Follow got even darker than usual.

They might try to airbrush away the events of 2012 but they know what happened, that they let their club die with no amount of spin and gymnastics able to cover up the FACTS!

Back then Celtic had three trebles to their name, two under Jock Stein and a more recent success under Martin O’Neill, they don’t come along all that often. In the mid-Seventies Jock Wallace fluked two Ibrox trebles during a decade largely dominated by Celtic.

Recent events have been troubling for the self conscious bear, there are a few, as every season the tally of their old club has been getting within range.

The so-called 55 provided some relief but as Zander Clark inspired St Johnstone to a Scottish Cup win at Ibrox few fans would have guessed that Celtic were about to win five of the next six trophies on offer.

While living in denial apparently the new goal is to reach the knock-out stage of European competitions, or more accurately the second rate Europa League.

Funds have been generated, the Co-efficient Cup claimed but with five trebles completed in seven seasons there has been no hiding place from Celtic’s trophy parties.

With 45,000 Celtic fans providing the backdrop to yesterday’s success the pressure is on Micky Beale to put a halt to Celtic.

One more treble will surpass the trophy totals of both Ibrox clubs- the ultimate nightmare for those born into a bizarre superiority complex, completely lacking any substance.

There is one other trophy count- in Europe Celtic won the big one, five years later another consolation cup went to Ibrox which they were banned from defending, that tournament was binned 20 years ago.
