Brendan Rodgers has wasted no time in adding to the Celtic squad- and making sure that Odin Thiago Holm is one of his signings.

Three days after his own appointment the young defender completed his move from Valerenga to Celtic as the first deal of the summer transfer window.

The move was clearly initiated before Rodgers took over from Ange Postecoglou but the new manager made it clear that he had the final say ahead of yesterday’s announcement.

The one thing I’ll start by saying is the recruitment team, when Michael took me through the structure of the club from where it was at when I was here before, I can see a clear change in that infrastructure and the team behind the football team. Mark {Lawwell] has done a brilliant job with the recruitment when you see the markets the club are operating in. He’s done a great job in bringing in the players that fit in to the profile of Celtic. And Odin is one of those players.

Rodgers faces a very different task second time around as he walks in on a young, committed squad that is just off the back of winning a treble and playing in the group stage of the Champions League.

Some minor, selective changes will be carried out but there is no need for an overhaul or to revive players that have gone badly off the boil.

After meeting the media today it will become a little clearer what direction Rodgers is taking the squad in, how Holm fits into a squad rich in midfield options will be discovered during the pre-season friendlies in Japan and South Korea,

During his last transfer window at Celtic, in January 2019 Vakoun Bayo and Marian Shved were the two permanent signings made.
