The Daily Record has published what they believe to be Ange Postecogluo’s Celtic salary.

Spurs are being strongly linked with the former Yokohama F Marinos boss but it is unlikely that any decision will come down to personal terms.

Only a very small group of people will know the details of Postecoglou’s salary, I certainly don’t but would imagine that it is heavily incentivised.

The more success that the manager delivers the more he is paid, reaching the Champions League group stage is probably worth £20m more to the club than playing in the Europa League with a knock-on effect on many areas including player valuations and ultimately transfer fees.

Leading agent Frank Trimboli negotiated Postecoglou’s Celtic contract two years ago, it is a rolling 12 month contract but such a switched on agent will have ensured that his client is getting a fair share from the success that he has generated.

Late on Wednesday night Keith Jackson reported in the Daily Record:

It’s widely reported that Conte was taking home a whopping £15m a year during his time in charge at Spurs – which equates to a weekly wage of almost £290,000. While Postecoglou might not be given Conte’s enormous financial package he would nonetheless be guaranteed a staggering pay rise, dwarfing his current Celtic salary which is believed to be around £2m a year or £40,000 a week.

With Champions League income pouring into the club this season, including the hospitality deals on the back of drawing Real Madrid this year looks like being a record one for Celtic in terms of turnover.

While taking the club to one match away from a domestic treble Postecoglou managed to generate a January transfer surplus with just over £10m coming in from the transfers of Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis with probably half of that spent signing Alistair Johnston, Oh Hyeon-gyu, Tomoki Iwata and Yuki Kobayashi.

Jackson does have strong contacts inside Celtic, in June 2020 Peter Lawwell gave his last newspaper interview to the top man at the Daily Record, discussing his plan to have fans attend Test Matches at Celtic Park before the start of the SPFL season.

No fans attended a match at Celtic Park between March 2020 and July 2021.

I’d be amazed if big Ange entertained the idea of working for a dictator…….

Clearly Spurs could pay a far greater salary. Thats not even news. Sadly our envoirenment makes it next to impossible to keep any staff wanted by a big clubin a big league.

It depends on what Ange wants from Football at this stage of his career?
He’s always wanted a tilt at Europe and to Manage a big Club in that environment.
    Celtic offers both.
If he’s motivated by money first and foremost as he heads towards his twilight years then of course it’s a no brainer.
I happen to think he loves his job at Celtic and wants one more crack at the Champions League with us.
If he is successful this Season then I think he knows a better offer than Spurs might come of it.
One last thing…He was also a childhood fan of Liverpool and given the current situation there I think the stars may be aligning if Klopp struggles to revamp and reinvigorate his squad.
Perhaps just perhaps Ange is aware of the current situation elsewhere?

All part of Operation Panic Station.
They do it with every decent player and every decent Manager at Celtic.
Anything to upset the feel good factor running through the Club.
