One week after playing for Japan against Peru, Kyogo Furuhashi is back in pre-season training!

Last night Vissel Kobe shared a story on Instagram which showed their former striker kitted out in maroon going through some training drills.

After missing out on a place at the World Cup Finals Kyogo was at the heart of the action for Celtic from December 17 through until scoring in the Scottish Cup Final on June 4 against Inverness Caley Thistle.

The clip is of a standard training session, not the hard physical work that traditionally awaits players when they return for pre-season after a few weeks off. On Saturday Vissel are at home to Consadole Sapporo.

It is hard to imagine Kyogo really letting things go during the close season, his complete professionalism suggests that he would be working out to some extent on a daily basis rather than hitting the burgers and booze on a rowdy holiday.

Clearly he has a strong affinity with Vissel who he left two years ago to join Ange Postecoglou in a European adventure.

Being back in familiar surroundings alongside former team-mates won’t do him any harm with his Celtic schedule probably 7 to 10 days away before a return to Japan and the first pre-season match of the season on July 19 away to Yokohama F Marinos.

Yuki Kobayashi will be expected back at Celtic on Monday, his last appearance was on May 24 away to Hibs.
