Murdo MacLeod makes welcome return to Celtic Park

After some very serious health issues Murdo MacLeod made a very welcome return to Celtic Park on Saturday, watching Bend It Like Brattbakk, the story of Celtic’s dramatic 97/98 title win.

After spending 103 days in hospital after complications set in with his pace-maker the former Celtic midfielder lost his toes as a consequence.

Last night he was in the audience at the Kerrydale Street as the dramas of the 97/98 campaign were relived through the life of fans culminating in Harald’s goal against St Johnstone that delivered the title, Celtic’s second trophy of the decade.

Captain Tom Boyd was at Friday’s show with Wim Jansen’s assistant taking in the Saturday showing.

MacLeod has an outstanding Celtic connection, scoring the final goal in the 4-2 match to win the title in his first season at the club and being heavily involved in the Centenary Scottish Cup success, a year later he was in the thick of the celebrations at Love Street as another title was clinched.

Moving to Borussia Dortmund he returned to captain Hibs to the 1991 League Cup Final success with his stint as assistant to Jansen coming after spells managing Dumbarton and Partick Thistle.
