One long established Celtic blogger seems utterly terrified by the prospect of Brendan’s return

There has been one publication defiantly swimming against the tide that Brendan Rodgers is closing in on a return to Celtic as manager.

It isn’t one of the dreaded MSM outlets flying the red, white and blue flag, fearing that Celtic are about to appoint a manager of a similar calibre to Ange Postecoglou.

One of the longest running Celtic websites seems to be dreading the prospect of a high quality appointment, one that instantly transformed the club in 2016 by imposing his standards on every area of the club.

The top tier of the Lisbon Lions Stand reopened, the Waiting List for Season Tickets returned alongside Champions League nights and the novelty of winning trebles.

For some reason Celtic Quick News seems to be dreading the prospect, putting up roadblocks and obstacles at every turn while throwing around completely unproven allegations.

At lunchtime today Paul67 continued his attempt to put a handbrake on momentum, claiming:

If nothing else, the club have been thorough this time. Candidates have been interviewed, including Brendan, who is without an employer, but there has been no rush to appoint.

Despite having a strong offering and good applicants, there is nervousness at board level, these decisions have huge consequences.

All you and me know for sure is that the decision has not been made, despite affirmation to the contrary.  There’s no way Celtic are sitting on a decision.

Nervousness? That will be the board that conducted a managerial review in December 2020 and concluded that Neil Lennon was the best man to manage the club. When Lennon resigned they then took more than 100 days to appoint a successor who had barely a month to prepare for a Champions League qualifier with Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide to boost the squad.

On Monday CQN claimed that it was just noise linking Celtic with Rodgers, apparently two senior club officials had travelled to Mallorca out of courtesy to boost the profile of a former Celtic manager.

It also carried the slightly sinister claim of:

Brendan was a winning Celtic manager. If, as reported, he was interviewed, you’d better believe he has invested some capital in even being considered. The way he behaved at Liverpool, then Celtic, and his lack of structural legacy at both these clubs and at Leicester, means Brendan has a bit of a reputational challenge going forward. Even being considered by Celtic would do him good.

I don’t see it going any further than this, though.  We’ve seen what an actual great manager can do. One that leaves a legacy of a valuable squad.  One that never considered short-term loans as part of his modus operandi. A team player in every sense.

On what application form is a manager expected to leave a ‘structural legacy’? That is the sort of request that you pay £3.5m a year for your CEO to impose.

Celtic Quick News was a breath of fresh air when it first appeared in the middle of the first decade of this century, highlighting how compromised traditional media had become.

Sadly CQN has allowed itself to be completely compromised by their own portions of succulent lamb.

When the noise becomes reality the credibility of CQN will have sunk even further than the influence of a former CEO that Paul67 has never criticised.

The vlogger does not speak for us. He speaks for himself and will try to be controversial to get some hits

  • Magdalena’s Chestnut Gelding says:

Paul is in Peter’s pocket and always has been. If he is acting on behalf of his master at this point in proceedings then that is worrying.

I despise Lawwell for not killing the continuity myth and the big lie. He had a fiduciary duty to do so and didn’t. Hell awaits him for that. I paid to watch American Wrestling and he did nothing save for the odd smirk and smart arse comment whilst we had found out we were cheated blind for 12 years.

Dermot needs to tell Lawwell to keep his ego the heck away from this. There is room for one ego only and that is the manager.

Rodgers is a winner. A proven winner.

Due to Ange’s arrogance we let Sevco beat us and let them think, yet again, that they could catch us. That line up at Ibrox was a disgrace.

Rodgers is a managerial heavyweight and if we back him like we backed Ange then we can continue to dominate domestically whilst, at long last, make some progress in Europe.

Time to pipe down Peter and Paul.

  • Paul McCann says:

peter lawell thought Youssouf Mulumbu was better than John McGinn

  • UlyssesGunt says:

Sold out its “ journalistic privilege “ long ago to Liewell , it just oozes sour grapes from the pore … as you say , when / if BR returns he will have a lot twists and turns to make in order to regain any respect .
Many of his commenters recently have been questioning his direction.

Me personally, I always put more of the blame on Rogers’s leaving at the door of Liewell …. ( he also stopped the 10 ) who then had the “ microphone “ to feed the story the way he wanted it perceived

  • SID says:

Paul 67 is nothing more than a puppet. He is a Peter Lawell supporter first and a Celtic supporter 2nd. His hatchet job on Rodgers before he left and whilst still in position amounted to being translated as that big bad Brendan Rodgers wants things that will improve the football club.
Now with the undoubted benefit of hindsight we know that Celtic were being run shambolically and nowhere near it’s potential which in turn was costing the club fortunes in lost revenue. Never prepared for Euro qualifiers, last minute brinkmanship transfer deadline day, going past the summer window with one fit striker, Griffiths. Then spinning the difficult January window and the it’s all to hard yarns that CQN regulars defended, totally conned by their masters message. Nicholson takes over and Lawells lies are exposed and suddenly our club is run much better. They believe the message and think that makes them better supporters. We have our delusional element who can’t think for themselves too.

  • Rob Camp says:

    Peter cant be trusted.

  • Tony B says:

Paul Brennan is just Lawwell’s mouthpiece these days, with no apparent opinions of his own, a bit like Pravda journalists toeing the party line, in this case obviously spoon fed to him by Lawwell who is shitting himself at the thought of an autonomous Brendan Rodgers running things his way.

Brennan has a few loyal lapdogs sticking up for him on the site, but it appears that the majority of posters want Brendan back.

Lawwell is a latter day Kelly or White, putting his own interests before the club.

I wish this accountant would fuck off out of it and feather his nest elsewhere.

  • bertie basset says:

rodgers would never return without reassurances from desmond that lawell will not have his sticky fingers in the pie , desmond rates and values rodgers that much is obvious , the question for the undecided is , do we want to win the league next season with a proven and experienced best man for the job ? or are we prepared to take a chance and lose it with the second man for the job ?

  • Scud Missile says:

Lol a blogger and a FUD caught out cold about not being in the know so spits the dummy out big time.

A nickel&dime blogger thinking he is in with the big boys getting the heads up on shit at the club only to be let down.

  • the maister says:

We have seen Rodgers at Celtic in the past. And we’ve seen Lawwell at Celtic in the past. And we’ve seen Rodgers and Lawwell at Celtic in the past.
And now we are going to see Rodgers and Lawwell at Celtic again?
You get what they give you when you pay your season ticket in advance. That’s what you’ve signed up for. There is nought you can do about it. They know this!
So, a lot of Celtic supporters will naturally go with this. But I don’t think it will necessarily be a good appointment.
We have been over this ground. Do we really want to go there again.
It is really the past being served up again in the present. We know that it ended acrimoniously previously as well.
The Celtic supporters will say that what happens will be fine as long as we beat sevco Rangers.
But the Board will say that it will be okay so long as we produce our dividend.
But really, you are being offered second-hand goods for your newly, hard-earned cash!

    • Tony B says:

Aye that will be why the zombies are absolutely shitting themselves at the prospect of his return.

sevco’s short lifespan will continue to be haunted by being at least simply the second best, (until Aberdeen and Hearts get their act together).

      Stupid deluded gullibilly hun fannies

      • the maister says:

Tony, what you have to remember is that the Huns are deid, as of 2012. There is no return. They always had a raison-de-etre that was always going to fail.
They rallied their support around bigotry, exclusion, discrimination, domination, isolation, ridicule and superiorism. It was bound to fail.
Leave the dead to bury their dead!
We are alive and on we go.
Their mission failed. Good riddance to them.
They are a bad lot with a dead ideology. That’s all they’ve got!

      • the maister says:

        Have you got that?

  • Lanarkbhoy says:

Good piece Joe. It has been obvious for some time (years) that Paul B has both feet in the Lawwell camp. Now that he’s back as Chairman I’m sure he will be licking his shoes. Maybe there are vibes that Lawwell doesn’t want Rodgers back but if DD wants him and Rodgers accepts his offer Lawwell will need to step in to line or become the ex Celtic chairman. Paul seems to suffer memory loss, was it not Lawwell who let McGinn head to Villa in the ‘18 window, bloat the squad with loans and sign a winger when we had a dressing room full of them and, to crown his transfer window let Dembele leave at the close of the window without a suitable replacement. That was the beginning of the end for Brendan Rodgers. He should have walked then and I’m sure he would have had the sympathy of the vast majority of the support and not be be despised by some as he still is today. For me he is the outstanding candidate available, bring it on.

  • John A says:

Brennan is nothing but a stooge for Lawwell. Does anyone take him seriously? I stopped reading his shi@e ages ago.

  • Hamoflage says:

Brennan curled up on Lawwell’s lap shortly after he was appointed and hasn’t taken his head out of his crotch since. All this tells us is that Lawwell still hates Rodgers and will be working against him at every turn. We’ll see from how this goes, how much power Peter still has at Celtic.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Any Sevco Slayer will do for me – Any one – And If Brendan Rodgers is the the best at that then that’ll do me just fine ! ?
