A report in The Sun claims that Dermot Desmond has been blind-sided by Ange Postecoglou’s interest in taking three members of his coaching staff to Spurs.

Desmond was pictured at the entrance to Celtic Park a couple of weeks ago alongside Postecoglou in an image that appeared almost out of nowhere on social media.

The Irish businessman is Celtic’s biggest individual shareholder, is a non-executive director trusting the day-to-day running of the club to Michael Nicholson and Peter Lawwell.

Nicholson has kept an incredibly low profile during his 21 months as CEO after stepping in when Dominic Mackay’s brief reign came to an end.

Lawwell has returned to the limelight since being appointed chairman in January, being pictured laughing and joking with Postecoglou at a recent SFA Youth Cup Final.

Writing in The Sun, Derek McGregor claims:

But his plan to raid the champions’ backroom staff blind-sided Desmond, chairman Peter Lawwell and chief executive Michael Nicholson who are unhappy with the idea also of losing key backroom personnel.

They will thrash out a seven-figure compensation deal with Levy for Postecoglou and while deeply disappointed to be losing their hugely successful manager after two years of stunning glory, they also understand his desire to grab the challenge offered by Spurs.

However, they are finding it hard to stomach the 57-year-old’s wish to raid the club’s key coaching staff and it’s believed they’ve made clear to Kennedy they DON’T want him leaving.

If Desmond has been left blind-sided it seems that Nicholson and Lawwell have been found wanting in their management of the club.

If there’s a problem Paidwell is never far away. I hope his re-emergence does not put us back years with his dinosaur approach to all things football.
After his shit show with the interview in hampden showers to what went on during the lock down season he should never have been allowed back.
Their just 2 of the reasons he shouldn’t have returned

    • Scud Missile says:

He is back and within a few months Ange had gone, somebody probably gave Ange the heads up how on this SLEEKIT RAT operates.
He is back and so will that biscuit tin mentality on buying players.
As I said previously Jackass Jackson will do an article on the ALKIE and he will return PISHED as a FART and F**K it up again.

  • Seppington says:

Lawwell definitely doesn’t want Kennedy leaving, that’s his man to monitor the manager….

Though this has been painful I’d rather we let them alll go now. We need to attract a top manager and there’s not many that will put up with having a backroom team not of their choosing foisted upon them. I get the idea of continuity etc. but that won’t matter if the new man wants to change everything anyway!

    I guess we’ll see what happens….

  • Scud Missile says:

So it looks like Ange is taking his 2 sidekicks also with him,so what’s next 3 or 4 maybe 5 of the players, that would be worse than what Sunbed Sam did to us,at least he never came back for players.

  • Eamonn Little says:

Why is that Nicholson and Lawells fault if Ange and his agent decide to act like a couple of Charlatans?.People have to work on trust, and I’m sure they are all under contract.Otherwise all businesses are just snake pits.

    • Scud Missile says:

Lol you use the word TRUST when mentioned LIEWELL’S name, that’s the same guy we are to TRUST regarding the 5Way Agreement he said he knows nothing about with his fingerprints all over, aye weTRUST LIEWELL.

      • bertie basset says:

you have a mission against liewell , too personal for my liking , you could write a book i’d say !! lol

Editor: Top tip mate, stick to CQN, O** F*** half n half scarves and a framed copy of the Five (Six) Way Agreement.

  • Scud Missile says:

So there you have it starting already with Gavin Hairy Fud Berry from the daily sevco shooting down in flames one of the candidates to replace Ange.
An article full of negativity with lines being used like a rookie boss, and what experience of a manager did Mr Bean bring with him to ibrox,oh aye a couple of games with QPR but no mention of the word ROOKIE.

  • roger says:

Seems we are a feeder club for managers as well as player.

  • Seamus Campbell says:

Got to say, the only one to blame for the situation is Ange himself. The board, like the support, would have had every reason to be feeling good after the meeting with D.D. and Ange. Probably planned to announce it after the treble. I
I don’t blame them for not knowing Ange was not to be trusted.
For me on this occasion, D.D. and the board are not at fault at all. Ange has played us all.

JK will go nowhere, he landed on his feet at Celtic and knows full well he will never have a secure position like that anywhere else. How many managers has he seen off now?

  • JimBhoy says:

A new manager may bring his own backroom staff in, where would that leave Kennedy and Strachan. If they go I also wish them well. It gives them security and maybe a 4 year deal also and Celtic some more compensation.

If we get money for Strachan we have won a watch. If Kennedy goes there are others who could step up McManus, O’Dea etc… Broony back as a coach too maybe.

I suspect Kewell would go though.

Interesting to see if Ange comes in for any Celtic players. Not sure Kyogo would be as effective against a better class of defender. Would CCV go back to Spurs?? Every possibility. I suspect these discussions have taken place.

  • Dan says:

Why are there no agreements that once employment with the company is over you are not to approach any other employee for their services? Pretty standard in the corporate world and could stop these back stabbing managers from plundering the players and backroom staff when they leave. Ange could leave and be in conversations for years to come. If he takes players with him he craps all over his legacy, the club and the fans and will find company in the traitors club with Rodgers and Mo Johnstone.

  • Eldraco says:

Interference from someone somewhere, who? Does anyone seriously think that given our dire need for a top keeper to take over Hart that Ange would retain Bain ? Seriously?. Someone did .

Downhill from there I would have thought. ( We all know who and we all know the prick should never be in the door)

  • bertie basset says:

i’d bounce kennedy out the the door , celtic were very generous to him , my only surprise is that a shark like desmond got caught by this mob ,

  • Kevin Dunne says:

Shows the True side and style of Ange underhanded two faced and no balls to be honest with fans when he had ample time to tell them , hope he enjoys getting sacked within first 12 months if they ain,t in good position an challenging for trophy
