Cyriel Dessers of Cremonese has turned down the chance to be part of the Micky Beale Revolution.

The Ibrox boss teased on Instagram about his trip to Italy but it seems that the Nigerian striker was shrugged aside Beale’s charm offensive and will be playing anywhere but Ibrox next season.

Without a Sporting Director Beale has taken to looking into the eyes of transfer targets with Kieran Dowell, Dujan Sterling, Jack Butland and Sam Lammers all signing up for next season.

Dessers seems to be a run of the mill striker, failing to hit double figures since the 2019/20 season in Holland for Heracles. A sort of mix between Antonio Colak and Fashion Sakala who are both attracting no interest in the transfer market.

The Sun reports:

CYRIEL DESSERS has said declined the chance to move to Rangers, according to a report in Italy.

Ibrox boss Michael Beale has been tracking the Nigerian striker for weeks ahead of a prospective £3.5m move.

But a report from Tuttosport claimed that Torino regarded Dessers as a ‘perfect fit’ as they are ‘consider reinforcements’ for their squad.

And now they’ve issued an update to the effect that Dessers has said NO to the Ibrox men in order to remain in Serie A.

It’s a blow to Rangers, who were hopeful of landing a one-two punch with Dessers and former Sampdoria and Atalanta star Sam Lammers.

Details are expected to emerge of a compensation fee going to Ibrox for the time wasted on trying to sign Dessers but a slice of any future transfer fee is unlikely.

This is fantastic news on the war chest front … now with the £8 million they have received from the Tilman experiment,( it was all planned ..) add on another £3.5 from the Dessers investment… there is now an extra £ 12 million ( Sevco counting ) in the transfer kitty .

  • Scud Missile says:

They could have taken him onloan for the season with the option to buy him, then let him go back to his parent club and claim the compo and sell on clause money from them, just like they have apparently done with Bayern.

  • Bob (original) says:

SMSM reporting: Beale didn’t fancy him anyway!

In the real world: sevco didn’t have £3.5M anyway!
