Micky Beale has been dragged into the Fake News about Steven Gerrard’s interest in his Ibrox flops.

Soon after it became clear that Jota was joining Al Ittihad for £25m news emerged that Mister Gerrard was about to become manager of Al Ettifaq.

One wind up merchant on Twitter came up with the news that Scott Wright was a transfer target for Al Ettifaq, amazingly that claim was picked up and  turned into EXCLUSIVES! by Fraser Fletcher of Football Insider and the Daily Record.

After breaking those ‘exclusives’ Football Insider and the Record have fallen silent on the Wright link although there has been vague suggestions that Glen Kamara and James Tavernier could also be transfer targets for their old boss.

Beale won’t be signing any new players until he can shift some of his deadwood, discussing the Saudi links Football Scotland reports the Ibrox boss saying:

I wished (Gerrard) well, It’s an exciting journey for him,” said the boss.

I am delighted to see him and some of the staff I previously worked with back together and working.

(As for coming in for our players) it depends how much he comes with.”

Beale could be in for a long wait for those offers to arrive on his desk.
