Micky Beale’s Summer Superstars were held to a 0-0 draw in a bounce match played at Murray Park this afternoon.

Four of the summer signings, plus Todd Cantwell were in the Starting XI that were held at bay by Davie Martindale’s collection of free agents and trialists. It is reported that the Livingston wage bill has been reduced by 20% from last season.

It has been sunshine all summer long at Ibrox, brightened considerably by the departure of Ange Postecoglou accompanied by a roll out of new signings, all personally vetted by Beale.

After one week of outstanding training sessions and video clips it seems that things came unstuck today, not helped by the captain wearing what appeared to be green and white boots.

The rumoured Starting XI was: Butland, Tavernier, King, Mayo, Yilmaz; Cantwell, Dowell, Lundstram, Sima, Lammers, Matondo

International stars Glen Kamara, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, John Souttar and Ianis Hagi will join up with the squad at training in Germany with Nico Raskin given extra time as he was involved with the Belgian u-21 side until June 27.

Beale’s squad face a Third Round Champions League qualifier on August 8/9 with the return leg on August 15.
