After breaking news of Celtic’s interest in Brazilian striker Ferreira, Mark Hendry provided a Twitter update on transfer activity.
At the start of the month, in line with expectations that the club would break the £10m barrier, Fabian Rieder was being linked with a move to Celtic.
Involved with Switzerland at the UEFA u-21 championships, the midfielder has impressed with Young Boys of Berne and is expected to be on the move this summer with two years left to run on his contract.
It seemed a highly ambitious target, someone to go straight into the Starting XI and ready to test himself in the Champions League. Playing in Switzerland a move across the border to Germany, France or Italy would seem like the logical next step.
With two transfers in progress from South Korea Rieder has slipped down the headlines, with Mohamed Reda now a midfield target Hendry tweeted:
? Sticking with Celtic:
Mohamed Reda is on radar as reported by @AnthonyRJoseph but two clubs are ahead of them in pursuit.
Also informed this week that there has been no contact from #CelticFC for Fabian Rieder.
He has “a lot of concrete” offers – none Celtic at this time. https://t.co/Qzd2EsCXpR— Mark Hendry (@mhendry92) July 18, 2023
Last June Hendry was the first reporter to name Alexandro Bernabei as a transfer target and seems to have a good grasp on Celtic’s transfer activities.
Brendan Rodgers is expected to be asked about Celtic’s transfer activities after today’s match against Yokohama F Marinos which kicks off at 11am Celtic Park Time.

Once Celtic have put in an offer for a player does it become realistic, anything until then is not worth reporting.
