Celtic’s Plan B for a friendly in South Korea appears to have run into problems.

Last week Wolves announced that they were pulling out of their two match tour of the country which included a game against Celtic on July 26.

The hoops already have matches planned for July 19 and 22 in Japan with K-League side Incheon United suggested as replacements for Wolves.

That would have given Brendan Rodgers four pre-season matches to assess his squad but it appears that getting opponents for a match on July 26 is becoming troublesome with the Daily Record reports Incheon United saying:

Sadly, it will now be practically impossible to arrange any friendly matches this month against European opposition at this short notice. It is highly regrettable we are not able to please our supporters with a game against a big club and we apologise to those who were awaiting such a prestigious game.

Incheon were scheduled to play Roma on July 31.  Celtic could fly straight home from Japan or arrange a third match against J-League opponents but another option would be to play a match in Korea against Gangwon.

Negotiations over the transfer of Yang Hyun-Jun appear to have come to a halt with the Korean side putting the transfer back until January once their domestic league has been completed.

A friendly match against Celtic on July 26 would raise extra cash for the hosts as they look to replace Hyun-Jun and allow Celtic to make their first appearance in South Korea which has clearly been identified as a market to bring players in from.
