One year into his four year contract it is being reported that Rabi Matondo is free to leave Ibrox.
What that actually means is that no fee will be involved if any club is prepared to match the winger’s reported wages of £30,000 per week.
Matondo was signed last summer for £3m from Schalke 04 accompanied by claims that he was faster than Usain Bolt. Unfortunately the Welshman struggled to use his pace with the ball at his feet.
Moving to the English Championship it is unlikely that Matondo would attract an offer of more than £15,000 a week.
Going out on loan with the Ibrox club paying the bulk of his wages is a more likely outcome although The Rangers Review will no doubt apply some Tillman spin to the deal.
Wales international Rabbi Matondo is free to leave Glasgow Rangers this summer. Matondo spent a loan spell with Stoke in 2021 and could return to English football after being made available by the Scottish club. #scfc #Rangers

Whitcoop is the Assistant Sports Editor of the Sunday Mirror. By tweeting news about the Ibrox flop it suggests that the story wouldn’t hold until tonight’s paper goes to press.
? Welcome to Rangers, @rabbi_matondo ?

Oh well – it’ll be wail after wail about the man from Wale-s then !
The spin will be that he is away out onloan with the club taking him onloan paying his full wages with sevco getting £3 million for letting the player go out onloan,it makes sense.
Free to leave WHEN somebody bids the right amount This isnae Barka’s(£4.5 million and left for FREE)ya thick thigh cunt!
Oooofft!
That has to be a sore one for the skint sevco?
And just to be clear: that £3M transfer @ £30K a week wages was
sanctioned at Ibrox, when they actually had a full-time Sporting Director
– Ross Wilson – in post!
Since Ross left in April, the rookie boss Beale is expected – somehow – to perform
the Sporting Director duties as well…?
Beale should get out of there… before he is chased out. 🙂
