Harsh lessons handed out to Celtic B

Celtic’s B team were up against it today when they faced Alloa Athletic in their final pre-season friendly, going down to a 4-1 defeat from the First Division side.

Brendan Rodgers called up about 10 of last season’s squad for first team training in the Algarve but Bruno Davidson, MacKenzie Carse and Michael Frame returned early to play in today’s match which kicked off at 12 noon.

Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus had a depleted squad for the match at the Indodrill with just three outfield players available as substitutes.

Ben Quinn pulled a goal back 11 minutes into the second half but the home side had the final say in the 84^th minute when Stefan Scougall completed a well worked move with a shot from 10 yards out.

There should be more reinforcements in the squad for Saturday’s Lowland League opener away to Cumbernauld Colts which is quickly followed by matches against Caledonian Braves, Cowdenbeath and East Kilbride.
