Monday Medical- Anthony Joseph on Celtic departure

Connor Hazard’s unusual Celtic career looks like ending tomorrow with a transfer to Plymouth Argyle.

It is a period that never worked out as he would have wished but whatever else he does he will always be remembered for delivering the Quadruple Treble. One winners medal from seven first team appearances isn’t a bad return.

With Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain struggling badly during the Lockdown season Neil Lennon turned to a young Irishman that had been out on loan at Partick Thistle and Dundee for the dead-rubber Europa League tie with Lille.

Hazard lost two goals but Celtic won 3-2 with fans wondering what impact Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull could have on the season.

Ten days later Hazard saved two penalties at Hampden allowing Kris Ajer to score the decisive penalty as the Quadruple Treble was etched into the record books.

Hazard made four more first team appearances, two while Barkas and Bain were in self isolation as a nightmare season was played to a conclusion.

Ange Postecoglou signed Joe Hart and Ben Siegrist while the not so young Irish keeper went out on loan to HJK Helsinki where he picked up a Finish League winners medal.

If all goes through in the medical tomorrow Hazard will end his Celtic days but one afternoon at Hampden will never be forgotten.
