Lewis Capaldi has been put on the spot by being asked to name his favourite Celtic song.

It is doubtful if any other group of supporters have as big a range of songs to call on with the singer needing a moment or two before coming up with his answer.

Six weeks ago he had powerful options covering Ange Postecoglou, Jota and Aaron Mooy but for a variety of reasons those songs won’t be getting aired at Celtic Park next season.

Capaldi has been known to play a few lines of The Celtic Song on stage but he delved a little deeper when Sean Evans put him on the spot.

There’s a really beautiful song called Grace, it’s an old Irish song but Celtic fans sing it because there’s that big connection with Ireland. It’s a beautiful tune.

Grace was picked up by the Celtic supporters at the start of the 2016/17 season and is also popular with fans of the Republic of Ireland. So far it hasn’t been copied or bastardised by Liverpool fans.

In the late eighties and nineties The Fields of Athenry was picked up by the Celtic support while in the early years of this decade Let The People Sing became a favourite with all three being endorsed by the club and played over the Celtic Park PA system.
