Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that te rehab of Cameron Cart-Vickers is on schedule but hasn’t put a timeline on when to expect the defender back in action.

The former Spurs man put in a heroic performance in the Scottish Cup semi-final victory on April 30 but straight after the match Ange Postecoglou announced that knee surgery was required.

Within a couple of days Carter-Vickers had gone under the knife with no precise update on his 3-4 months out of action.

Fortunately Celtic don’t have any UEFA qualifiers to deal with in that time span but the SPFL computer has thrown up trips to Pittodrie and Ibrox within the first month of the season getting underway.

Cameron’s doing very, very well. He’s out on the pitch. Obviously, the surgery that he had after the [Scottish Cup] semi-final, he’s doing really, really well. So he looks strong, he’s progressing and is well on schedule to be back. So that’s good news.

With Carter-Vickers in the side Celtic have only lost one domestic match, the extra-time defeat in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup in April 2022.

The £6m paid to Spurs a year ago to make his move permanent was money well invested with the defender playing a key role in the domestic treble secured last season.

There was a vulnerability about the Celtic defence last season when CCV was absent, being 100% and match fit for the Champions League starting in mid-September seems a realistic target.

Joe, you reported that Kobayashi had been sent back to Japan, on loan, I think you said.
well, he was training with the rest of the squad, as shown on Celtic TV today!

Editor: You must be mixing me up with someone else, I don’t think I’ve mentioned Kobayashi in weeks, certainly not since training started. Ideguchi is back in Japan on loan, unlikely to return.
