Steven Gerrard rubs salt in Ibrox transfer wounds

With Micky Beale desperate to shift on the deadwood in his squad Steven Gerrard is preparing to buy Jack Hendry from Brugge.

Since a miracle season during Lockdown on loan at Oostende things have gone downhill for Hendry who spent the first half of last season on loan at Italian side Cremonese before being returned to Belgium.

Gerrard is poised to sign free agent Moussa Dembele but a £5m cheque to Bruges for Hendry will be a painful blow for Beale’s hopes of raising fresh funds.

John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe, Borna Barisic, Scott Wright and Glen Kamara were all signed by Gerrard but their former boss has shown to interest in ‘raiding’ Ibrox as he gets to work in Saudi.

The new manager of Al Ettifaq is clearly body swerving Beale’s squad as he attempts to revive his managerial reputation in the Saudi League.

Hendry is under contract with Brugge until 2025, after returning from Italy he played in just seven Jupiler League matches.

It is understood that Bayern Munich won’t receive any cut on the transfer fee.
