A very youthful Celtic XI enjoyed a 6-3 victory away to Camelon Juniors on Saturday afternoon.

The East of Scotland side were celebrating their return to the Moore Equipment Hire Stadium with the fans getting full value for money from the opening game.

Little is known about the players involved in the Celtic side but it seems likely that they were mainly drawn from the u-16 and u-18 side since Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus had their B team playing Cumbernauld Colts in the Lowland League.

For reasons best known to themselves the Camelon TV team located themselves just beyond the 18-yard-line of the half that the young Celts were attacking in the second half of the match.

Promoting players just out of school to play against men in their mid-twenties and above isn’t an easy task but some of yesterday’s scorers could find themselves in line for promotion to the Lowland League side.

So far in three pre-season friendlies and one Lowland League game the B team have managed just two goals- drawing 0-0 at Fraserburgh while losing 2-1 to Sligo Rovers, 4-1 to Alloa and 1-0 yesterday at Cumbernauld Colts.

Yesterday’s B team at Cumbernauld:

CELTIC: Clarke, Dede, Frame, Robertson, Ferns (Osagie 46), Ure, Quinn (Hale 74), Carse, Dobbie, Thomson (Haddow 63), Davidson (Bonnar 46).
