Brendan Rodgers will have to wait until late on Friday night to find out the identity of the centre half that he will be working with for the next two months.

Injuries to Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki have left that area of the team devastated.

Gustaf Lagerbielke with two Celtic appearances and Liam Scales with one hoops appearance in 18 months are likely to play together at Ibrox on Sunday with Tomoki Iwata about the only alternative.

Recruitment is wholly under the control of Mark Lawwell who is believed to be working on a number of fronts with three days left in the transfer window.

Reviewing Celtic’s transfer activity, in the Daily Record Michael Gannon reports:

Rodgers is in the market for a loan centre back as cover for injured trio Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh. But he may be forced to wait until the final few hours of the window with several Premier League options holding fire to see if they can secure permanent moves before being shunted on to loan lists.

Bringing in an EPL defender surplus to requirements is less than ideal, faced with an injury to Carl Starfelt last summer Moritz Jenz came in on loan and played in all six Champions League ties before his loan was cut short in January.

It would be an incredible stretch for someone signed on Friday night to train on Saturday then be involved in the squad for Sunday’s match at Ibrox.

Following that fixture there is a 13 day break for internationals before Celtic hist Dundee on September 16 then go into the Champions League.

10 days after Kilmarnock then st Johnstone still not 1 player in , nepotism at celtic is alive + kicking

Would that be Dad or Son you are referring to, then again, the Apple doesn’t fall far from the Tree

Rodgers should have let the coaches at Celtic train the players.
He should have kept his footprint seldom while he discovered the way the team trains and operates.
Instead it looks like he has come aboard and has made himself the main man, like he used to be.
    The result has been disastrous.
Injuries left, right and centre! To the point we can’t barely put a team on the Park!
Three big ego’s at Celtic now. Main shareholder, Exec. Director and Manaager.
Just don’t tread on their royal coat-trails!

Lawwell the man who lost 10.
In the majority of businesses you get fired for failure, only at celtic & football in general do you get rewarded.
Lawwell has to go, Brendan was successful at celtic whilst The new Rangers were building.
Lawwell Lennon And DD showed The Rangers complete contempt and threw away 10 in a row.
I have Zero confidence in the board, I have only a little confidence in Brendan, he has reduced a good team to slow pace with few chances, you don’t score if you don’t have players and the ball in the oppositions penalty box.
Season has hardly started and its looking bleak.
