Leeds United are closing in on a £12m signing but it won’t be Glen Kamara.

The midfielder is miles out the picture at Ibrox with desperate attempts to price the former Dundee man with a £5.5m price tag. Getting half of that figure would be a major achievement.

Micky Beale promised to revive Kamara’s career when he took charge last November but after a disastrous performance in the Viaplay Cup Final defeat from Celtic in February Kamara has been the designated fall guy.

Kieran Dowell and Jose Cifuentes were signed this summer with Ryan Jack given a 12 month contract, even John Lundstram has been getting played ahead of the Finnish flop.

Kamara was forced to train solo when he resumed pre-season training, last week he rejoined the first team squad but there is still barely a sniff of interest never mind anyone thinking of handing over £5.5m.

At lunchtime today the Daily Mail reported:

Swansea striker Joel Piroe is heading to Leeds for a medical after the clubs agreed on a fee around £12million.

The 24-year old has scored 44 goals in the past two seasons for Swansea which has made him a hot property this summer.

Despite the frenzy of good news from Ibrox messengers there is no urgency from Leeds to balance the books on Beale’s summer spending spree:

Leeds intend to add at least four more players before the window closes.

They have made an offer around £5m for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri, enquired about Genk winger Joseph Paintsil and have held talks with Rangers for midfielder Glen Kamara.

Leeds also want to add another full-back.

Everything points to Kamara going to Leeds on loan on deadline day with no sign of any other interest in the Ibrox misfit.
