Second club makes a move for Celtic striker

Transfer

Trabzonspor are reported to have joined the race to sign Albian Ajeti.

The striker is in the final year of his Celtic contract and has been airbrushed out of the plans of Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.

Signed in the summer of 2020 for £5m from West Ham he started off with a burst of goals but like many things in that doomed season everything quickly tailed off.

Ange Postecoglou tried to revive Ajeti and got a response of three goals in two matches in September 2021 when Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis were injured.

Last season Ajeti was out on loan at Sturm Graz but there was little enthusiasm from the Austrian side to make the move permanent.

Turkish site Karadenzi Gazette reports:

Striker Albian Ajeti, with whom Gaziantep FK is in talks, is also in contact with Trabzonspor.

Managers suggested the striker to Trabzonspor. Trabzonspor, who wanted to buy the football player 3 years ago, is wondering what kind of decision will be made.

It was stated that the transfer might be difficult if the claret and blue side were also involved.

A year after joining West Ham from Basel in a £10m deal it is reasonable to assume that Ajeti is one of Celtic’s highest earners.

There has also been suggestions that Ismaila Soro and James McCarthy will leave Celtic this week.
