Don Robertson will referee Sunday’s Glasgow Derby with Alan Muir on VAR.

That combination were on duty in reverse for Celtic’s recent Viaplay Cup defeat at Kilmarnock that threw up a couple of controversial incidents with VAR taking a back seat.

No action was taken on Daniel Armstrong for what appeared to be elbowing Greg Taylor on the side of the head while a VAR check on a penalty claim on Sead Haksabanovic was completed very quickly without Muir being asked to review on the touchline monitor.

Last season Nick Walsh was put in charge of two derby matches, the first of the season at Celtic Park which the hoops won 4-0 then the League Cup Final at Hampden in February.

John Beaton refereed the 2-2 draw at Ibrox in January with Robertson called in at the last minute to take charge of the Scottish Cup semi-final after Willie Collum got injured in the warm up.

Kevin Clancy refereed Celtic’s 3-2 home win in April with Steven McLean put in charge of the final match of the season at Ibrox, six seasons after his only previous experience of the fixture.

McLean will be fourth official at Ibrox on Sunday which is often an indicator over who will referee the next fixture between the two clubs.
