Alfredo Morelos has revealed that he was suffering from a very complicated injury during his final season at Ibrox.

The chunky Colombian missed the start of the season following hip surgery, was sent off after 13 minutes after coming on as a substitute against Hibs which prompted disciplinary action from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Morelos scored just three goals before the Dutchman was sacked, being reunited with Micky Beale did little for his form as the season petered out without any suggestion of a contract renewal.

Despite five years of constant transfer links it took until September for Santos to come in with a contract offer. The club of Pele and Neymar are sitting in the fourth relegation spot in Brazil’s Serie A and have the task of trying to get Morelos match fit as they fight the drop.

The Daily Record reports the former Ibrox hero saying:

Obviously, there wasn’t a lot of game time at Rangers last season due to a very complicated injury, but I accepted things as they were. It was a still a season of scoring twelve goals, obviously I didn’t play most of the main matches. But it was a very nice feeling to play in Europe, in the Europa League and the Champions League. I have done important things in European football in my short career.

Stories are already surfacing in the Scottish media about European interest in Morelos but available as a free agent for months there wasn’t a sniff of interest from Sevilla, Porto or any of the usual suspects.
