Micky Beale has blamed Kemar Roofe for picking up his first injury of the season.

The former Leeds United striker came off at half time in the League Cup win over Livingston and looks like being out for a couple of weeks.

Last season Roofe only managed to make six appearances, all as a substitute but was speaking on Tuesday about how he had overcome his injury issues.

Beale spent the best part of £15m in the summer on a new forward options but has had no option but to turn to Roofe and others after the new signings struggled to make any sort of positive impact.

Over the last few weeks Todd Cantwell, Nico Raskin, Danilo, Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo have been ruled out through injury with Roofe and Ridvan Yilmaz joining that growing list last night.

The Daily Record reports Beale saying:

Kemar Roofe felt his groin midway through the first half and has a slight problem. He probably should have asked to come off so we’ve had that chat and Ridvan is a touch of cramp.

With Roofe and Danilo both crocked it should open the door for Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers to demonstrate why Beale signed them up for Italian clubs.
