Ahead of tonight’s match against Feyenoord Celtic have created a brilliant image of a man revered by both sets of supporters, with a place in the folklore of both clubs.
The two sides have only met once before, in the final of the 1970 European Cup with a curly haired midfielder for the Dutch side breaking the hearts of thousands of Celtic fans in the San Siro.
Twenty-eight years later Wim Jansen achieved legendary status when he delivered Celtic’s first Scottish title in a decade, despite being manager for less than a year his legacy included the signing of Henrik Larsson directly from Feyenoord.

Sadly, last January, at the age of 75 Jansen passed away after suffering from dementia but his achievements will forever be remembered by both clubs.
Half and half scarves for domestic matches are for soccer tourists, mainly in the EPL but a lot of fans will make an exception to mark the contribution of Jansen who would have loved to see Celtic taking on Feyenoord again with the Glasgow clash taking place on December 13.
Yep – Fondest memories of Wim from that very very nervous but ultimately memorial season of 1997/98 !
