Micky Beale has been stating the case for Cyriel Dessers as Ibrox fans slaughter their £4m summer signing.

On Super Scoreboard alone this week he has been described as the Nigerian Kevin Kyle with another angry bear saying that he’d rather have a 60% fit Alfredo Morelos in the team.

With Kemar Roofe and Danilo both out injured Beale will have to rely on Dessers over the next three matches as he tries to hang onto his job against constant criticism from the Ibrox fans.

After looking into his eyes and sending a huge cheque to Cremonese, Dessers is very much Beale’s choice but so far he has notched just three goals in 13 matches with two of them deflections that he knew nothing about.

Defending the 28-year-old, Beale told The Sun:

Cyriel would like to do better. That’s a fact. I don’t think he’s shown his full level yet. He has got three goals and a couple of assists. I think he’s been really unlucky.

If he gets the assist against Celtic and adds that assist to his one against PSV then I think people will see him not only as a goalscorer.

I think in moments he has shown that but of course he’s looking for a rhythm and a consistency. He’s been out of the team recently so it’s an opportunity for him if he plays to come in and stake a claim for sure.

There are a few ifs in Beale’s comments. If Alan Muir or Willie Collum had applied the Laws of the Game correctly in the last two matches Beale might be looking for the next exciting chapter in his coaching career.

With a four year contract Dessers is very likely to outlast the manager that took full control of transfer activities when Ross Wilson walked away last season.

You’re most welcome! You can’t beat a bit of ‘schlager’ (and lager) on a Saturday…?

I thought it rather appropriate given Roger Whittaker’s recent passing??.

Off to the afterlife to join his cousin, Brian?

“ I think he’s been really unlucky” after two deflections…

Jesus – They certainly don’t do irony, but they do hypocrisy in spades –

    Cry(iel) me a river for just Desser(t)s !
