For the tiny number of Livingston fans it must be an absolutely sickening look.

Your team has lost 4-0 in a cup quarter-final, the first goal conceded was the result of ridiculous actions by two match officials and at the final whistle your manager looks like the happiest man inside Ibrox.

In his younger days, before doing a prison sentence for drug dealing and money laundering, David Martindale used to go on European away trips supporting his Rangers heroes.

A lot has changed at Ibrox since the tax dodging days of Dave Murray, Dick Advocaat and Alex McLeish but there is clearly still a child-like magic for Martindale as he watches his modern day heroes hit his employers for four goals for the second time this season.

On Saturday Livingston conceded 17 fouls in their home match against Celtic, at Ibrox four days later just five fouls were given away.

Against Brendan Rodgers’ side Bruce Anderson and Mo Sangare caused the visiting defenders a few problems as Martindale’s side pushed for 90 plus minutes to take something from the match.

At Ibrox Anderson and Sangare sat on the bench for 77 minutes before getting sent on with their team losing 2-0.
