Bisgrove admits that there is no January war-chest for the Clement Revolution

There is no transfer war-chest set aside for Phil Clement in January.

During the summer the Ibrox board came up with £15m to fund Micky Beale’s Revolution with just token fees coming in for Glen Kamara and Fashion Sakala.

With most of Beale’s signings sitting on four and five year contracts his successor will have to find a way of getting something out of flops like Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers and Jose Cifuentes.

A year ago the Ibrox coffers were relatively healthy after reaching the Europa League Final, qualifying for the Champions League and picking up £20m from the transfers of Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo.

None of those sources has surfaced in 2023 with James Bisgrove admitting yesterday that any transfer fund will need to come from further share issues:

Philippe will make an assessment on the squad to identify how we increase performance and improve results and Philippe will give an assessment to the board where he sees the strengths and weaknesses. I believe the board and investors will be receptive to his feedback in terms of the improvements required. Clearly, there has been investments this summer, but the standard and the bar here is very high. We want to win silverware. Philippe is here for that, that’s why he’s picked Rangers over possibly other options.

After losing Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent as free agents in the summer Clement will have to decide quickly on the futures of Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, John Lundstram and Leon Balogun. Jack is currently injured with a sore leg.

Three of the next four Glasgow Derby SPFL fixtures will be played at Celtic Park.
