With Reo Hatate expected to be out of action until after Christmas Brendan Rodgers has delivered a comprehensive injury update.

It has been a difficult return to the club for the Irishman, over the course of eight days back in August he lost three central defenders with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki all picking up medium term knocks with only the former Spurs defender back in action.

Over the last two matches Hatate and Alastair Johnston have needed to be substituted during the first half of matches.

Alistair will be fine, it was really just precautionary taking him off, especially with Tony being able to come in and play so he’s (Johnston) came out the game OK.

Odin will be back as well which is great, he’s obviously been out for a few games with injury but he’s now been training and back so he’s available for us.

The other guys, Reo, We’re not 100 per cent on the exact timings, but he’s certainly going to be out until after Christmas we think, so that’s a shame.

Stephen Welsh is back in training which is good, other than that the others are on course. Liel Abada, probably mid-December. That’s the update.

Celtic have four more matches to get through before the November international break with three SPFL fixtures around a demanding Champions League tie away to Atletico Madrid.

Having Johnston back to face St Mirren on Wednesday will be a welcome break after he took a hefty head knock in the draw against Hibs.

Over the last three matches the starting XI was starting to look quite settled, pushing for a breakthrough in the second half against Hibs the back-ups were unable to come up with a goal with only a James Forrest shot off the bar coming close to finding the net.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Fcukin players made of Glass, Wood Splinters, Margarine – Whatever… They all seem to end up at Celtic –

Goodness knows what Jimmy ‘Jinky’ Johnstone would be thinking at all…

A man that was kicked to bits both on the domestic and European stage and came back for more and more –

Injuries are part and parcel of the game but bloody hell – The Hoops have more than most !
