‘It’s absolutely blatant’ ‘They’ve got away with it for too long’ ‘Calling it out’ Celtic fans get behind Rodgers’ fixtures claim

Celtic fans raced to back up Brendan Rodgers questioning the random nature of the SPFL fixture list.

A fairly innocent question about switching the December 27 match at Dens Park to the previous day produced a very unexpected reply.

Almost from nowhere the Celtic boss revealed that for the seventh season running the hoops will be away from home in the first fixture after Christmas Day, funnily enough the Ibrox Tribute Act have had a home match after enjoying the festivities although Rodgers left that aspect unsaid.

There are plenty of dubious aspects of Scottish football discussed online but the post Christmas fixture isn’t one that has been raised by fans.

This season’s first batch of fixtures has seen Celtic visit four of the five teams that finished in last season’s top six, this afternoon the champions return to Edinburgh for the second time in a week.

The Ibrox club have yet to travel east along the M8 while Celtic have been at Hearts, Hibs and Livingston.

If the Celtic boss is starting to delve into the stats there could be some interesting times ahead- especially if he is alerted to one club that is on a 64 match run of not having a penalty awarded against them in the SPFL- or that recently went four years between players being sent off at home in a domestic match.
