What a year it has been for Kyogo Furuhashi- so far.

The striker finished 2022 watching Japan at the World Cup Finals on television with his club team-mate Daizen Maeda scoring in Qatar.

Domestically he had made an impact at Celtic but two big targets eluded him. Kyogo went into 2023 without having scored in a Glasgow Derby or in the Champions League, the two arenas that outsiders will judge Celtic strikers.

Ten months into the year Kyogo has smashed it with both thanks to six goals in the Derby and two from three Champions League ties, Lazio and Atletico Madrid are now on his Roll of Honour alongside Hearts, Kilmarnock, Livingston and the rest of the SPFL Premiership.

Coming up next for Kyogo is Champions League trips to Atletico and Lazio, two venues where only the best strikers come up with the goods.

Celtic secured the former Vissel Kobe striker onto a new long term contract during the summer but if he continues to shine in the Champions League it would be a surprise if there are no enquiries made about Kyogo when the January transfer window opens.
