Of course we can- Raskin fires title warning at Celtic

Nico Raskin is convinced his Ibrox team-mates can make a success of this season.

After falling seven points behind Celtic after seven matches the manager that signed the tiny Belgian was sacked with no clear indication of who will take over.

An SOS to Rome brought Steve Davis into the dug-out despite the Irishman failing to complete his B coaching licence, to manage in European competitions UEFA require a Pro licence holder in charge of a club.

It seems like a 3-0 win over 10 man St Mirren has revived delusions in the dressing room with Raskin sounding out the battle cry to Yahoo Sport:

Are we good enough? Of course we’re good enough. We’ve got like six or seven players out injured, so it’s been a hard time.

But now people are going to come back soon hopefully. We have to look forward and work hard. We’re still early in the season and we have to do our job on the park.

We all know that we’re coming from a hard time. The last two games before Sunday were difficult for the team.

What difference the return of Todd Cantwell, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and Danilo will make is hard to judge, most of them were available as Micky Beale’s masterplan crashed to earth.

Raskin and Cantwell played together in central midnight for three of the four defeats to Celtic that sealed the fate of Beale.

Despite the hype around John Bennett and James Bisgrove conducting interviews in London this week there has been no solid indications that an appointment is expected this week outwith the excitement coming from the Scottish media.

Whoever takes over will face a far tougher fixture list than Beale with Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen and Celtic to be faced away from home between November 26 and December 30.
