Where are the favours going to come from? Barry Ferguson’s Celtic despair

Nine matches into the season Barry Ferguson fears that Celtic have already built up a daunting lead in the race for the Premiership title.

Having visited five of the most daunting grounds on the fixture list the hoops have picked up 25 points with a full house of wins on the road, including crucially in the Glasgow Derby.

Micky Beale only survived for three more SPFL matches with his successor charged with cutting the gap then overtaking the hoops to claim top place and an automatic place in next season’s Champions League.

Philippe Clement got off to a winning start against Hibs on Saturday but as Ferguson looked in on Celtic the next day he was given very little encouragement from Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Listening to the former Clyde boss on Go Radio last night, the Daily Record reports Ferguson saying:

It’s a hard place to go, Tynecastle but if I’m being honest after ten minutes, I knew there was absolutely no chance that Hearts were going to get back into it. So where are the favours going to come from?

They’re motoring just now. You can see each game that they’re going up a notch but all Rangers can do is forget about what Celtic are doing. They need to really concentrate on number one and that’s themselves.

On Saturday Celtic are away to Hibs making it six of their first 10 matches on the road, that sequence will be reversed with Celtic Park hosting the Glasgow Derby on December 30.
