Game management takes many forms, as a referee there are lots of ways to influence a match without a headline grabbing decision.

The Disadvantage Rule is a classic, breaking play up to award needless fouls to give opponents a breather and a chance to regroup. Apparently favouring Celtic with free kicks stats when the reality is that you are halting their progress, attacking a stretched defence.

Football is a contact sport which gives referees great scope to apply their own interpretation on the game, an issue used fully by those in the Lanarkshire Refereeing Association headed up by officials groomed by Hugh Dallas with John Beaton especially enthusiastic.

In the 85th minute at Ibrox yesterday Hearts won their first corner of the second half, sending up most of their biggest players.

As the corner was cleared Kenneth Vargas was in possession, under pressure from Ross McCausland who pushed him over. As the Hearts player fell to the ground he grabbed the ball- free kick to the home side according to Beaton.

Rather than being able to kill time and keep possession inside their opponents half the Hearts players had to race back, play switched down the right with a corner awarded and the inevitable.

From that moment on it was last chance saloon with Alan Muir on the job for anything possible inside the penalty box.

Beaton will be back in action on Wednesday night, taking charge of the Celtic v St Mirren match. Yesterday was the fourth successive time he has been in charge of Hearts playing against the club formed by Charles Green in 2012.

It was certainly a lucrative weekend for Muir, picking up a fee for refereeing the Hibs v Celtic match on Saturday then a VAR fee and mileage home to Aberdeen for Sunday’s match at Ibrox.

Where the hell was the linesman looking?

He must have had a clear, unobstructed view,

    right along the touchline.

Is the linesman not allowed to flag for a foul?

  • Stewart says:

I’ve noticed it quite a lot in their play for a good while now wen they chasing and tackling from behind or to the side there’s early always a follow though with arm or in this case hands to an opposing players back, I know it’s a contact game but seems to get stretched a bit wen its them

  • Eldraco says:

Enough already! Celtic should relocate to Germany,Spain or Italian leagues if England won’t have us fuck it!

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Anywhere bar Scotland – Not That I’ll probably ever pay cash to see them live ever again…

I do miss all the match day experience but I do have pride in being anti cheating –

Therefore I cannot dent that pride with the open season and in plain sight cheating that is such a cancer riddling Scottish Football and reducing it to the farce we now witness on a weekly basis !

  • Scud Missile says:

Get the BOYCOTTING of the games now hone and away.

The GB with the Palestinian flags and protests at the board should be concentrating on the CORRUPTION in our and leave the CORRUPTION in politics to someone else.

Walk out of a game at half-time leave the stadium empty that won’t be long in getting point over especially if it’s a game on live TV.

If your not going to do this then stop COMPLAINING about the CHEATING and continue to show up every week as your watching a wresting match as we know that’s rigged just like the way the game is going up here.

A nickel&dime league with amateurs running it no league sponsor and washers paid from Sky to cover our games.

That’s the reason for a nickel&dime contract from Sky,who’s going to pay top dollar for a CORRUPT league set up,you get what pay for hence the low ball figure Sky offer and the CORRUPT SFA accept it as nobody else will touch our league.

It’s as if we have the plague up here nobody wants touch or be part of it,big name companies don’t want to be associated with CORRUPTION and it is STINKING up here,BIG TIME.

But hey CORRUPTION is here and it is here to stay.

sevco were minutes away to a defeat with their new manager , the game had all the hallmarks of beales performance’s needing a penalty per game to keep him in a job , i reckon the sevco simpletons realize now that this new manager is not as he seems and is following in the path of beale , if i was a sevco fan i’d not have been happy to win yesterday with the officials playing cheatball to save their club , the real question to be asked , where would sevco be today if they lost ?
