Celtic duck away from challenging anti-Semitic claim made by Israel boss

A number of Celtic fan media sites are reporting an un-named Celtic spokesman denying that the club’s support is anti-Semitic.

The issue arose after Israel boss Alon Hazan made the claim when he was discussing Liel Abada.

The comments may have been lost in translation between Hebrew and reaching the PUBLISH button with the Scottish mainstream but mud sticks with the story prominent from this afternoon onwards. There is nothing on the Celtic website or social media accounts challenging the claim.

Some fan websites expected the club to reply but anyone paying attention would have been shocked at a defence of the fans coming from within the Celtic boardroom.

In more than two years as CEO Michael Nicholson hasn’t commented on anything outwith his minimal duties.

You’ll get a nicely crafted statement with the Annual Report, similar with the interim accounts and absolutely nothing else.

It took a question at last years AGM for Nicholson to comment on broken glass mysteriously appearing in Joe Hart’s penalty box at Ibrox. During the half-time break glass appeared that was missed by stewards and police, with CCTV not working the incident will remain a mystery known only to the Ibrox ground-staff who were working in the penalty box at the time.

Fran Alonso being attacked at his place of work? Not a word.

A token six week suspension to the thug that attacked Alonso- not a word.

No Celtic fans have been at Ibrox for the last two Glasgow Derbies- not a word has been said by Nicholson although Celtic’s favoured messengers have been filled in with the reasons from ‘club sources’.

All sorts of refereeing inconsistencies have been thrown up, more so since the introduction of VAR without a word from the Celtic boardroom.

The claims about the Celtic support by Hazan are out there. Google his name and Celtic for proof, somehow the denial given to a couple of fan websites isn’t going to carry any clout with the slur sticking.
