It has been a while since Celtic fans were following the Honduran national side but that has changed over the last couple of months.

Of the seven summer signings made by Mark Lawwell over the summer the arrival of Luis Palma is creating the biggest impact with a series of goals and assists.

Last week’s assist for Oh Hyeon-gyu against Aberdeen certainly made a big impression, striking the ball with the outside of his right foot wasn’t something that the Aberdeen defence was anticipating.

Overnight there was another assist, to Anthony Lozano as Honduras opened the scoring in their 2-0 victory over Mexico.

It wasn’t as eye-catching as the pass against Aberdeen but there was a real touch of class about the delivery with Lozano doing it justice with an impressive finish.

Palma is certainly providing a wing threat for Brendan Rodgers’ side with a style that is difficult to define.

Playing on the ‘wrong’ wing seems to be popular these days with those right footed deliveries from the left providing a great supply at club and international level.

He’s not Rangers class though, which was why they chose not to sign him when they had the chance. Doesn’t fit the profile, like Lammers and Dessers. Beale basically said so. And he was the brains behind Gerrard and a future England manager. Just like Warburton before him! What an absolute fanny that chancer was.
