There appears to be strong discussions going on in the Honduran national squad over the fitness of Luis Palma.

The Celtic winger played an important role in Friday’s 2-0 win over Mexico on Friday night but picked up a knock which hasn’t quite been fully disclosed.

Mexico host Honduras tonight looking to overturn the first leg scoreline in order to reach next year’s Copa America.

A fully fit Palma would clearly be a boost for Honduras but their media sources are involved in a guessing game over whether the Celtic winger will start the match which kicks off in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Celtic Park Time.

Honduran site Deportes TVC reports:

The Honduran player Luis Palma set off the alarms in the Honduran National Team prior to the duel against Mexico in the definition of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Nations League for a pass to the Copa América 2024 .

According to information that Deportes TVC has been able to learn, Palma is a doubt for the second leg of the Bicolor Nacional against the Aztecas as he was not fully recovered in the previous match.

Palma had a talk with Rueda in training where they discussed how he was feeling after the knock he had in the first leg, after the Honduran player was injured after a brush with the Mexican Jorge Sánchez .

“He had a talk with Reinaldo Rueda in training for around 10 minutes, the medical team says that he is ready to play, but I have doubts that Luis Palma will start due to the fact that he is not 100% ready to start,” said Jorge Fermán, special envoy of Deportes TVC from Mexico.

In circumstances where there is a doubt over a players fitness most international manager’s would leave the player out, respecting who pay the wages month by month.

It seems that Palma’s recent form is so good that the Honduran management team want to give him every opportunity to play.

Wednesday should be a travel day for Palma, returning to Glasgow via London with Celtic fans hoping that he returns fit and well for the busy period running trough to the international break after playing St Mirren on January 2.
