Kyogo Furuhashi was the victim of a sickening head attack from Aberdeen’s Slobodan Rubezic during Celtic’s 6-0 win over the Dons.

Early in the second half the defender arrived a split second late to hit Kyogo full on after the striker had headed the ball.

As he landed on the ground it looked like Kyogo had been knocked out with play held up for several minutes. Willie Collum judged it to have been a deliberate attack on the Celtic forward but opted for a yellow rather than a red card.

Kyogo managed to get back to his feet but was instantly replaced by Oh Hyeon-gyu as the atmosphere inside the stadium dropped to deep concern even though Rubezic was spotted laughing at the boos from the home support.

Fans will now be waiting for an update on the striker’s injury, from Sky Sports coverage there seemed to be no facial damage but concussion is a possibility.

Yang Hyeon-Jun also suffered a head injury during the second half with 10 minutes of stoppage time added as Celtic restored their eight point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership table.

  • John L says:

It was sickening and I don’t think you go in that aggressively for a ball in the middle of the park.

  • Bob (original) says:

In real time, that was a red card – every day of the week.

The replays are just sickening: the Aberdeen player knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

And the ref’s immediate reaction was telling: running backwards and immediately

talking to VAR official. He knew it was a bad one.

Yet it was only a yellow. It was a clear red.

    Hopefully Kyogo is ok.

This is just another example of the match officials cheating.

No statement will ever be issued from the Board about that though… 🙁

  • Tony B says:

They do it because they get away with it every week and the Board continues to say and do nothing about it.

They have a duty of care to their employees but all they are interested in is money and bonuses.

    This is on them.

  • John McNealis says:

Collum is an uncle Tim and beaton a proven cheat, time the board stood up. The masons are getting more and more brazen with each passing each week

  • Justshatered says:

Well let’s be honest, Beaton was never going to advise a red card check.
He allowed Morelos to kick and stamp his way through a Celtic v The Rangers game a few years ago.
Today was the perfect example of the state of our refereeing standards: a The Rangeds player dives to win a penalty that VAR does nothing about meanwhile it’s open season on Celtic players.

  • Jim says:

I maybe missing something, but you think that was just a late, mistimed challenge?. the police should have been called, you go to jail for less!!.

  • Jim says:

yeah, this is on the board, they are perhaps a bigger disgrace, and what will it take, the death of a player for them to say or do something?.

    • bertie basset says:

the celtic board are Cowards Cowards Cowards !!! they better get the finger out their as hole smartish !!! gollum and cheatin should never see the inside of celtic park again

  • bertie basset says:

gollum has no moral compass , a coward, as bent and as brazen as cheatin beatin ,
cheatin gave the penalty against oh because he knows he fucked up with the assault on kyogo , trying to limit the damage of his decisions , as clown head gollum gave a yellow ,

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

One day a Celtic player will have his career ended by them…

Kayel was never the same after the McCulloch thuggery –

Perhaps sue these yellow bastards in grey suits ?

But they’d probably take the compensation cash out of the clubs transfer kitty !

  • Tam says:

The daily record “online” report states Kyogo’s head connects with the Aberdeen players “shoulder” WHAT…… And cheatin beaton doesn’t step in ….no surprise there….Willie collum gave a bykick and cheatin beaton asked him to take a look at it again…. now I can accept the on field cheating referee missing a handball but to miss sorry ignore the player knocking the ball out… Well all of that and more sums those two cheating b+&£#?@s up

  • the maister says:

IMO Scottish Football is rotten right through to the core!
