You wait 42 years for trip to Madrid then two of them come along at once, sorta.
After the glut of matches in the Nou Camp during the naughties Madrid became the name on the lips of the seasoned travels among the Celtic support.
The Spanish capital is the home of football’s greatest trophy, 14 times it has been won by Real with plucky neighbours Atletico runners-up three times.

When the draw finally came good at the end of last August fans found that the Bernabeu capacity was drastically reduced due to renovation work making tickets even scarcer although the November date did give supporters a few months to find a Real fan prepared to sell their ticket.
Last year it was November 2, a year and a week later the fans are back in the city hoping for better luck against Atletico.
With one Champions League victory in a decade there is very little grounds for optimism, Celtic have won just two away matches since they first played in the competition but a point tonight will keep hopes alive ahead of a return to Rome at the end of the month.

Hopefully the fans enjoy the city and of course ma heart says to enjoy the football as well…
But the old head says it won’t be a win and probably a defeat –
But aye – A point will be pretty awesome !
