Philippe Clement is talking up the prospects of making Abdallah Sima’s move to Ibrox a permanent deal.

While Micky Beale signed up a number of expensive flops during the summer onto long term deals Sima came in from Brighton on a season long loan.

After the moonbeams surrounding Malik Tillman the Brighton deal doesn’t seem to be win-win-win with the player signed from Slavia Prague for £7m in the summer of 2021.

Another loan next summer to a better league or transfer for a profit is the target for Brighton but Clement seems to think that more time with Beale’s misfits will develop the winger’s game to the next level.

Discussing Sima, the former Monaco boss told the Daily Record:

If he is continuing what he is doing now, I think this is also a good place for him to grow, as a player, as a person, in everything. It’s not about assessing that in the summer. There will be talks faster than that. But of course it’s really early to be doing that now.

The most important thing is that Abdallah is performing and that he feels really good in the club. That’s the first step so we can build on that.

With chairman John Bennet looking to cut £10m in costs from the club a £7m plus bid for Sima is unlikely but like Tillman last season it is a warming story to deflect bears from the financial reality of Beale’s £13m summer spending spree.

Sam Lammers an Cyriel Dessers are both under contract until May 2027.
