Next month Brendan Rodgers is looking to have his Celtic squad trimmed.

At the start of September 33 players made it into the first team picture at Lennoxtown, Daniel Kelly has yet to make his debut with James McCarthy posted missing.

Moving on players under contract isn’t an easy task, typical of that is the expected return of Yosuke Ideguchi from his loan at

The midfielder was ‘the other guy’ in January 2022 as Ange Postecoglou bolstered up his options with Daizen Maeda, Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate arriving, without them it is hard to imagine there being an SPFL title party at the end of the season.

Sadly for Ideguchi, on his only start away to Alloa he was the victim of a brutal challenge which restricted him to a handful of substitute appearances while the others made themselves must-picks for Postecoglou.

At the age of 27 Ideguchi has already had brief spells in Scotland, England and Belgium on his CV. He might feel that there is unfinished business for him in Europe or realise that the J-League is best suited to his style of play.
