Celtic have been linked with a January loan move for Fabio Silva.

The striker is out of favour at Wolves despite an early season change of manger with a loan deal the best opportunity to put the 21-year-old in the shop window and get a portion of his wages paid.

With Kyogo Furuhashi, Oh Hyeon-gyu and Daizen Maeda all expected to be involved at the Asian Cup it is expected that a forward will be among Celtic’s transfer priorities.

Reports from foreign sources always carry more weight, Portuguese publisher Ojogo explains:

Fábio Silva is preparing to leave Wolverhampton when the market reopens and the forwards future should involve Scottish football, where he is competed by Celtic and Rangers, the two giants from Glasgow who are involved in a derby known as the Old Firm.

The 21-year-old player has other teams interested, namely from Spanish football, but, at this point, the two Scottish teams, first and second in the local championship, are at the front of the race, according to O JOGO.

Fábio Silva, remember, was hired from FC Porto in 2020 for a fee of 40 million euros, but he never managed to impose himself on the Wolves team and this season he only played 372 minutes and one goal for the English team.

As happened last season, Wolverhampton is available to let go of the under-21 international, loaning him out again. In 2022/23, Fábio Silva played the first half of the season at Anderlecht and from January at PSV Eindhoven.

A lack of playing time is bound to have had an impact on Silva’s fitness but after the match at St Mirren on January 2 Celtic’s next SPFL match is at home to Ross County on January 27 with the Scottish Cup match against Buckie Thistle one to ease new players into the system.

Management creating work for themselves out of nothing!
What’s wrong with the strikers we’ve got?
They were good enough last season, when we won a world record breaking Treble!
No-one is even registering Kyogo on field with their eyes. There is no eye-contact from other players with him and he is the one we entrust to score our goals for us. Well, it ain’t happening and it’s not his fault. He ain’t called the
    “Striker”
    for nothing.
His job is to put the ball in the net. But, he can’t do that if he is not getting the passes!
The rest of the team is playing as if he wasn’t on the pitch. They are not looking for him to pass to and to score. Hence we are losing games because we are not scoring goals!
We are dis-jointed and don’t look as if we have a plan to win a game.
It is all as if Celtic want to lose the League this season. A sort of perverse notion that it is high time sevco won the League again to keep them relevant.
That may in fact be the way the game in Scotland is run.
    Or am I dreaming?
The game in the school playground is more genuine than Scottish Professional Football, perhaps?!
